Martha was busy serving Jesus. So how did serving Him become a distraction from being with Him? Pastor Kip reflects on the good, necessary things that can grow too large in our lives, and on Jesus’ invitation to bring our attention back to Him.
 

Your phone buzzes. A reel leads to another reel. Work and worry want their turn, too. None of it has to be evil to draw your attention away from what matters. Pastor Kip asks a revealing question: What has been getting the best part of your attention lately—and what is that doing to your heart?

Peter asks what kind of people we should become. Paul tells us it is time to wake up. Prophecy isn’t given merely to fill charts or support theories. It should shape our character. Readiness becomes visible through love, forgiveness, generosity, faithfulness, and a growing resemblance to Jesus.
 

Jesus tells His followers to lift their heads because redemption is drawing near. Signs feel different depending upon whom we believe is coming. Christ’s return isn’t merely the arrival of an event—it is the return of Someone who loves us, knows us, and has promised to receive us.

What happens when Bible verses seem to collide?

Paul tells believers to watch and remain sober. Biblical watchfulness is clearheaded and steady. There are two dangerous extremes: ignoring everything and interpreting everything. One leaves us spiritually asleep; the other leaves us exhausted and anxious. Jesus calls us to remain awake without allowing every headline, crisis, or theory to steal our peace.

Read Matthew 24:36 and Acts 1:6–8
The disciples wanted a timetable. Jesus redirected them toward their mission. The Father holds the calendar; Christ’s followers are given the work of witnessing. Not knowing the date keeps faith from becoming a calculation. It calls us into daily trust. Jesus gives enough information to recognize where the story is going without giving us control over how and when everything will happen.
Consider: Where are you seeking control instead of trusting God?

Sometimes the most important thing God wants to show us is easy to miss because we are moving too fast.
In Exodus 3, Moses noticed the burning bush because he was willing to interrupt his routine and turn aside. What might God be trying to show us in the middle of our own busy lives?
Today we explore the difference between simply moving through the day and living with spiritual awareness.
Reflection: What might God be showing me that busyness keeps me from noticing?
Action: Pause for five quiet minutes today. Look. Listen. Resist the urge to fill the silence.
